Description
The veluwe route (2005)
This book was written by Tom Bade in 2005 when he was still working at KPMG. Clients included Staatsbosbeheer and Stichting Ark. The idea was to give a boost to the discussion about the implementation of the EHS, which had become increasingly technocratic, with a “good story”, especially regarding the debate about the management of the Oostvaardersplassen.
The concept of the Veluwe Route was conceived as the green counterpart to the Betuwe Route. The Veluwe Route would run from the Oostvaardersplassen, through the planned connecting zone to the Veluwe, and via the Millingerwaard and Maasduinen to Germany. However, unlike the Betuwe Route, it was argued that an investment in this green infrastructure would be profitable. The book describes a journey along the route, and Jeroen Helmer created a beautiful poster to go along with it.
