This was a large project focused on the degradation of asbestos using mycorrhiza for which we received a grant from the province of Gelderland. In addition, the project also investigated how we could convert WWTP sludge into useful biomass with simultaneous degradation of all pollutants and degrade PFAS using mycorrhiza and other micro-organisms. We have been successful in all three areas, leading to patent applications for asbestos degradation using FibreBrickz, conversion of WWTP sludge and useful biomass (Double Refinery) and the Brickz production process using the Tellus computer system.
Partners in the project were: Paper and Cardboard Knowledge Centre, NIOO-KNAW, the Westerdijk Institute, SGI Compliance, Grondslag and Water Board Drents Overijsselse Delta.
